JESSIE MACALPINE

Honours BSc in Molecular Genetics 2017

Since 2012, Jessie has developed both a bioherbicide, an antimalarial drug currently under review for international patent. This research has been presented internationally and won Best in Category for Medicine and Health Sciences at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

 

Jessie will be ending the day with a powerful message regarding the fundamental qualities all future healthcare professionals should master, even from the age of 12. This is a talk you do not want to miss!

Famously known as,“The Scientist Who Makes Ears Out of Apples”, Dr. Andrew Pelling is University of Ottawa’s most unconventional biophysicist. As a Canada Research Chair in Experimental Cell Mechanics, a member of the Global Young Academy for scientists and a TED2017 Senior Fellow, he is internationally renowned for his unique approach to hacking biology. Join us for his opening keynote address, which will take us Back to the Basics of science, and push us to “Defy the Conventional”.
